NAS connection details and local records stay on your phone
NAS connection details, sign-in credentials, app settings, browsing and playback history, NAS task records, caches and diagnostic logs stay on your phone and are not proactively uploaded to developers. Usage and crash reports are not automatically sent. Network communication for updates, third-party services and actions you initiate is explained below.
Exports and NAS transfers you initiate, third-party services you enable and content you choose to share send the necessary data to the relevant destinations, without passing through developer servers. If you separately send an email or a community message, its recipients receive what you choose to provide; this is not automatic collection by the app.
When you manually check for or download updates, or the app automatically checks on startup, the app contacts the developers’ update service. The server processes network information needed for communication, such as your IP address, request time and path. Update requests contain no accounts, NAS addresses, files, device or installation identifiers, local activity records, logs or crash reports, and installation results are not reported. Startup checks are enabled by default and attempted at most once every 24 hours. They only offer an optional update and do not download or install it automatically.
Welcome to SynoArk. Please read these terms before using the app, especially the parts about account access, photo cleanup and sharing. The Privacy policy explains how personal information is used.
1. A local client and our data-storage commitment
SynoArk is a local client for devices you own or are allowed to access. It does not require a separate developer account and does not offer developer-hosted file storage or synchronization of local app data. Account connection details, sign-in credentials, settings, NAS activity and task records, caches and diagnostic logs saved by the app are stored on your phone and are not proactively sent to developers or developer servers. Copies you explicitly export or separately send are handled by the destinations you choose. Developers do not automatically collect your NAS activity, phone diagnostic logs or crash reports through this app.
NAS browsing, transfers, backups and management you instruct the app to perform send the necessary data to the device you specify. Third-party services you enable and content you choose to share provide the necessary information to those providers or recipients, as explained in the Privacy policy. If you contact developers by email or in the community, they receive only what you choose to provide.
Features include files and transfers, photos and music, photo backup, sharing, download tasks and device management. Availability depends on device support, enabled services and account access.
2. Use accounts and content you are allowed to access
Connect only to devices you are allowed to use. Keep your account, password and phone secure, and follow the device administrator's access rules. Do not view, change or distribute other people's photos, files or personal information without permission, or bypass their access restrictions. Younger users should use the app with a parent or guardian's guidance.
3. Changing files and managing your device
Deleting, replacing or moving files can change or remove existing content. Changing accounts, sharing or storage settings, installing, stopping or removing apps, and restarting or shutting down your device may also affect other users. Check the account, device, target and scope first, and keep backups of important content. Some actions cannot be undone.
If the connection drops or you see a timeout or error, the action may already have taken effect on your device. Check its result there before retrying to avoid repeating it.
4. Photo backup, deletion and freeing up space
Before enabling backup, check the account, source photos and destination. Automatic backup depends on the access you grant, network and charging choices, and phone battery settings; it can pause or be delayed. Check task results before deleting originals. Choosing an immediate backup may relax network or charging restrictions as explained on the page and may use mobile data.
Deleting photos from both your phone and Synology device affects both copies. Freeing up space deletes phone originals that have been backed up. Check that the backup is complete and opens correctly before confirming cleanup. Recovery depends on how the items were deleted and whether another backup exists.
5. Sharing content and using other services
When sharing a link or album, check the audience, recipients, password and expiry. People with the link may view or download content according to your settings. Stopping sharing cannot recall copies they already saved. Also check the recipient before sending files to another app or casting to a player.
Photo maps, Synology connection services, custom websites and content sources are provided by their respective providers. You choose whether to use them and should read their notices. Download or install only content you are allowed to obtain on your Synology device.
6. Playback, transfers and background work
Music, transfers and photo backups may continue after you leave a page, using network data, battery and storage. Battery settings, connection changes or an offline device can pause, delay or interrupt work. Check task pages and notifications, and stop tasks or turn off features when you no longer need them. Some downloads or management tasks already sent to your Synology device must be stopped separately on the device or task page.
7. Settings backups, changing phones and signing out
An app settings backup contains the settings and account details currently supported. It is not a backup of all photos, files or tasks. Read the restore scope before proceeding and keep the backup file and its password safe. A protected backup cannot be recovered if you lose its password. Sign in again after changing phones or importing an account. Existing accounts are not overwritten by the backup.
Signing out or clearing app data affects the corresponding information on your phone. It does not delete your Synology account or automatically delete files on your Synology device. You may stop using the app at any time.
8. Content and product names
Using this app does not change your rights to your own content. Respect creators' and other people's rights when using or sharing files, photos or music. SynoArk is provided by its own developers. References to Synology, Huawei or other products describe services the app connects to or uses; they do not mean those brands provide this app. Names and logos belong to their respective owners.
9. Help, updates and contact
Features and instructions may change with app updates. Refer to what is currently available in the app. We show the update date here; information-handling changes are also explained in the Privacy policy. If you need help, tell us which page you were using and what you did, and check attachments for private content before sending them.
